Endings — The Uncrowned Road

Working design. New events, appearances, mechanics, and political details remain proposals. See canon ledger.

This route centers on building enough local capacity that Pyrrhus can leave public command without abandoning the people who trusted him. It can follow a narrower settlement than the River Accord. The kingdom may remain politically untidy, with negotiated borders, rival councils, and unresolved claims, but the roads have functioning agreements and communities have means to defend their interests.

Pyrrhus refuses a permanent hereditary reward. He accepts a limited role as mediator, road captain, or envoy, with clear obligations and the freedom to end them. His relationship with his brothers may be loving without constant agreement. Ciro must learn to command without using Pyrrhus as his conscience. Xeno must build authority through his own actions rather than the prestige of a rescued prince.

The final journey revisits Reedwake Ford. The toll keeper is someone whose future depended on an early decision: a former deserter, a local apprentice, or a refugee elected by the settlement. Pyrrhus pays the ordinary toll instead of being waved through. The exchange is small, but it shows that the road belongs to more than his legend.

He crosses the rebuilt ferry with a companion, a partner, or alone. His sword is sheathed. The landscape is alive and imperfect. No supernatural omen interrupts the moment to announce the later story. The player is allowed to feel that preserving these ordinary lives mattered, even knowing that history will continue beyond the game.
