The final confrontation takes place at the palace's inner gate and council chamber, with the city audible beyond the walls. Edric still has loyal guards and a defensible position. He offers separate bargains to each son: recognition to Pyrrhus, restored military authority to Ciro, and a protected succession to Xeno. He understands them well enough to know what each once wanted and poorly enough to assume those desires have not changed.

The player can pursue arrest, negotiated abdication, or a lethal confrontation if the king refuses the available terms. A negotiated outcome requires credible guarantees and enough control over the coalition to enforce them. Executing the king should not automatically solve the succession dispute or make every province loyal. Sparing him should not automatically prove moral superiority if the arrangement leaves him able to order further violence.

The brothers' roles depend on their relationships. Ciro may physically place himself between the guards and the council delegates. Xeno can reject a crown offered without restrictions. Pyrrhus can refuse to let Mara's treatment become the sole charge against Edric, insisting that the hearing include the country rather than settle a family grievance. If the player has consistently suppressed accountability, the scene may instead reveal how readily Pyrrhus now speaks his father's language.

Edric's most intimate question is whether Pyrrhus ever wanted to be his son. Pyrrhus can answer yes without accepting the bargain. He can answer that he wanted a father before he knew he had a king. Or he can decline to give the man a final emotional victory. The story should allow anger, sorrow, and restraint without identifying one response as the only mature reaction.
